About Me

Hi, I’m Abby, the chronically ill creature behind the chronically Ill athlete.

If you were to search for me, your best bet would be to check the mats. I’m a brazilian jiu jitsu blue belt and enthusiast, so if i’m not training at the gym or cross training somewhere I’m probably thinking about Jiu Jitsu. When I’m not doing brazilian jiu jitsu or working, I’m usually either playing guitar (or bass, or uke, or… well, you get the picture), throwing around a barbell since I’m a weightlifter, spending time with my dogs or horse, cruising around on my Harley Davidson, or trying to find some good live music and food.

Oh, and there’s the not so small daily task of fighting chronic lyme, coinfections, and mycotoxicosis (high levels of mold). This is just a part of who I am, but I hope that by sharing bits of my health journey, I may be able to bring light to lesser known and acknowledged illnesses while also giving hope to those dealing with these and other similar conditions.

Chronic Illness comes in many shapes and sizes.

Are you chronically ill or the caretaker of someone who is? Would you like to share your story with me? Please feel free to share your story here, just make sure to note if I can share it here on The Chronically Ill Athlete and any social media links that you would like attached if it does get shared. *

*I am not a medical professional and do not offer medical advice, this is merely to share as anecdotal.
